You know how when you had a crush on someone in high school it was fun to write your name with his last name? Or scribble your names together? Don’t roll your eyes! You know you did that too, ladies. Anyway, it’s the same little thrill I get from writing out our daughter’s name before she’s born. I love seeing all the letters together, forming the sounds in my head, and daydreaming about who this little person will be.
Speaking of the one who shall not be named, she really likes to press down on my bladder. Like all day and all night. On the bright side, it forces me to get up a million several times a day and walk down the hall to the restroom. If I’m feeling really inspired and motivated, I’ll go the the restroom on the second floor of our building. Using the stairs of course, not the elevator. How’s that for staying active?
I’m shocked to say that my belly button is still hanging on for dear life. Can it handle five and a half more weeks of rapid growth? Only time will tell. Cross your fingers for me!
Childbirth classes. One word: terrifying! I’m pretty sure these are designed to put us more at ease with the whole idea of birthing a human, but so far they haven’t had that effect. In fact, it’s pretty much been the opposite of calming. There is way too much talk about really unpleasant things. I’ll spare you the details, but just know that it’s scary and let’s be honest, gross. I know it’s a miracle and all of that, but it’s kind of a really gross miracle…at least when you’re watching someone else’s miracle.
We’ve made more progress on The Room. Now it’s pretty much just waiting for me to finish the bird mobile, wash the crib bedding, and bring home a baby.
All of her 0-3 month clothes have been washed and folded or hung in the closet:
{Just a side note: I have yet to buy any clothes for this child at all. I know that makes me sound like a horrible mother, but I knew we would get tons, and I didn’t want to end up with way more than she could ever wear. So far, I think we’re in good shape!}
The changing table has been stocked with diapers, wipes, a changing pad, lotions, etc.
We got a little end table to hold a lamp and books and other random stuff that will inevitably end up there as we sit in the rocker late at night comforting a fussy baby.
We bought and hung a matching white mirror to go above the chair. And we also finally hung the letters to spell her name above the crib. That picture is secret for now, but I made sure to take a picture of all the letters jumbled up for a blog/name guessing contest I have in mind:)
We also finally bought some curtains. After consulting with my mom and a few interior designers that I knew I could count on (thanks Jess and Saskia!), we decided to go with white. Somehow I didn’t get a full picture with the curtains. I’m pretty sure you imagine white curtains though. And the window is just to the left of the tree.
So there we go! These are the kinds of things that have been occupying my brain 24/7 for the past couple of weeks. The closer we get to September 1, the more all-consuming this pregnancy and baby becomes. So I apologize for talking about it/her non-stop on here. I doubt it’s going to get much better though.

Ohhhh gawd… Brian and I went to the childbirth classes. I about freaked out when the lady pulled out the diameter thingy to show how big my hoo-ha would get… I wanted to walk out and never give birth.
But then the day came. I remembered nothing about those classes… I instinctively knew to breathe because breathing helped me feel better…. and then I got drugs about 24 hours later and I was all… Weeeee! I can do this!
And you know what… you can, too.
The room is adorable. I never bought any clothes for Kaylee either until recently. I *love* Once Upon a Child on 183/Anderson Mill. They have a great selection and the ladies are super sweet. Plus, I figured if I can get clothes for $1-3.50 each that she’s just going to grow out of in a few months, then I have a little more to put towards her college fund… she’ll appreciate used clothes one day, right?? RIGHT?!?
Yes, Once Upon a Child is good and there’s also a place by Lakeline called Kid to Kid. They had a lot of cute stuff too! It is pretty crazy to spend a ton on clothes that they’re only going to wear a couple of times!
Oh, I love her nursery! It is so cute! You did a great job.
Thanks, Sus! I really like the way it turned out too. Hopefully she will as well:)
This post has given me quite possibly the worst (best!) baby fever I’ve ever had! Like it’s gonna get any better when she arrives…
Don’t worry. I’ll send her over to spend the night with you and that should cure the baby fever really quickly!
yay! it looks awesome adrianne! it’s just so cute!!!
…i’ll have to agree with bethany haha…it is making me have the best baby fever ever!…eek! so exciting!!!
See my response to Bethany:) I’ll send her over to your place as well! I’m seeing a lot of date nights in our future, haha!
Omg I’ve heard so many things about giving birth that scare the crap out me (which I heard literally happens to you when you give birth). Be sure to write a post afterward saying if it was as scary as you thought it would be!!
Oh, yes, the crapping! That terrifies me. But truthfully, after seeing some of the videos we saw, if that’s the worst that happens, I’ll consider it a success! Is that sad or what?
The basket looks sooo cute in there!! I have more of that ribbon left over. Do you want it for other decorating ideas?
I would love more of the ribbon! I’m going to put new lining in the basket on under the end table and it would be really cute if they were matching!
